Chapter 4 Fault analysis and troubleshooting
1. White smoke
The possible cause is that the
fuel injector pressure is lower
than 23MPa, the fuel is atom-
ized poorly, or there is fuel
leakage.
Repair or change the fuel injector (Re-
fer to Section 3, Chapter 6, Part II)
The cooling water temperature
is too low.
Increase the coolant temperature.
The cylinder gasket, cylinder
head or block is damaged.
Replace (Refer to Section 3, Chapter 2,
Part II)
Remove the water contained in the fuel
in time or change the fuel.
2. Blue smoke
The piston ring is worn excessively, or
the elasticity of the piston ring is insuf-
ficient due to carbon deposit, resulting
in ingression of the engine oil into the
combustion chamber.
Change the piston ring (Refer to
Section 4, Chapter 2, Part II)
The engine oil level is too high.
The engine oil level is declined
within the specified range.
The gaseous ring is installed in a reverse
direction or the open ends are scattered
by less than 180°, resulting in ingres-
sion of engine oil into the combustion
chamber.
Re-install the gas ring (Refer to
Section 3, Chapter 2, Part II)
