A 4-pin XLR connector. The connection should have pin 4 hot, and pin 1 for ground. No other pins are connected. This is a
standard configuration.
Hilo consumes 22 Watts. Check with the battery’s stated watt hours to determine operating time you can expect with a fully
charged battery. For instance, a 60 watt-hour battery would provide up to 2.72 hours of operation.
9.3 XLR Connector Wiring and Adapters
This section describes the proper wiring of cables that can be used to adapt the analog audio XLR connectors on the
Hilo.
9.3.1
Balanced Connections
The wiring method for balanced connections with XLR connectors to balanced TRS (¼” phone) connectors using
shielded twisted pair cable (2 wire + shield) is as follows:
XLR Pin 1 (GND) to cable shield and to the TRS sleeve
XLR Pin 2 (+) to one signal wire and to the TRS tip
XLR Pin 3 (-) to the other signal wire and to the TRS ring

The wiring method for unbalanced connections with XLR connectors to ¼” phone connectors (tip and sleeve only) using
shielded twisted pair cable (2 wire + shield) is as follows:
