ENGINE IS HARD TO START
Actions
Fuel is cloudy or fuel flow is re-
stricted
•
Check fuel tank and fuel fi lter.
•
Remove water, dirt, or other debris.
•
Filter out fuel, and replace the fi lter if contaminated.
Air or water in fuel system
•
Fuel pump is not working properly due to air in the fuel fi lter or injection line.
Loosen the fuel cap nut and check carefully to obtain proper fuel injection pressure.
•
Loosen the air vent screw from the fuel filter and fuel injection pump and bleed all air from
the fuel system.
Thick carbon deposit at injection
nozzle inlet
•
Water or dirt in fuel. Clean the injection nozzle and check the nozzle inject for damage.
•
Check that the nozzle is working properly. Install new nozzle if necessary.
Incorrect valve clearance
•
Adjust the valve clearance (with the engine cold).
