Bypass Limit Test
Perform the following test to determine if the boom up limit
on your crane can be bypassed or not.
1. Lower the boom onto blocking at ground level.
2. Have an assistant push the adjusting rod (Figure 6-5
) in
to trip the boom stop limit switch open.
3. Rotate the limit bypass key (in crane cab) to the bypass
position and hold.
4. Try to boom up — do not raise the boom any higher than
necessary to perform the test:
a. If the boom rises, your boom up limit can be
bypassed.
b. If the boom does not rise, your boom up limit cannot
be bypassed.
5. The test is complete. Release the limit bypass key and
the adjusting rod to the normal operating positions.
