5.3.3 Safety measures when using
PIEZOSURGERY MEDICAL HANDPIECE SAFETY

DANGER:
Before and after using the handpiece always check that the cord is not damaged. If damage is
detected,donotusethehandpiece-cord.

WARNING:
Donotattempttorotateortwisttheconnectorofthehandpiece-cordwhileinsertingorremovingthe
same.Twistingcancausedamagetotheconnector.

WARNING:
ToavoiddamagingthePiezosurgeryMedicalhandpiece,connectand/ordisconnectalwaysholding
onlyfromtheconnector.Neverpullthecord.

WARNING:
Donotforcethehandpiece-cordconnectorintotheconnectorofthedevicebodybecausethiscould
damagetheconnectorofthehandpiece-cordand/orthedevice.Ifthetwoconnectorsdonotconnect
easily,theyprobablydonotmatch.Makesuretheconnectorofthehandpiece-cordmatchesthat
situatedonthedeviceandthatitiscorrectlypositionedasindicatedbythedots(Pic.13).

DANGER:
BeforeusingthePiezosurgeryMedicalHandpieceonthepatient,checkthecorrectfunctionofthe
deviceineverypart.

DANGER:
Beforeusing,checkeverycomponenttoidentifyeventualdamage.Ifevenanapparentdamageis
identied,donotuse.

DANGER: Inserts with ow of liquid.
Toensurethecoolingofthehandpiecealwaysactivateitwiththeirrigationcircuitcorrectlyinstalled
andlled.Tolltheirrigationcircuit,alwaysusethePUMPkey.

WARNING: Intermittent function.
Aprolongedusemaycausethehandpiecetooverheat.Pleaserefertoparagraph12.1“Technical
Data”fortheaveragetimesofuse(intermittentuse).
SAFETY IF THE INSERTS

DANGER: Sterilization.
The Piezosurgery Medical inserts are supplied sterilized. Sterilization is obtained by means of
ethyleneoxide(ETO).

DANGER: Disposable.
ThePiezosurgeryMedicalinsertsaredisposable:thesemustbeusedonlyinasingleoperationona
singlepatientandthendisposedof.Theinsertsmustnotbesterilizedorreused.
Segregateanddisposeofaccordingtothelawsinforceregulatinghospitalwaste.

DANGER: Prior to surgery.
- BeforeusingaPiezosurgeryMedicalinsertchecktheintegrityofthesterilepackingandinspect
theproductinordertoexcludethepresenceofeventualdamage.Donotusetheinsertifthe
packinghasbeentamperedwithorisdamaged.
 Theinsertlosesitssterilizedconditionifthepackingisbrokenordamaged.Ifthepackingis
damagedproceedwiththedisposaloftheinsert.Donotattempttosterilizeorreusetheinsert.
- Before starting the surgical operation, correctly fasten the insert to the handpiece using the
PiezosurgeryMedicalthedynamometrickey.
