completelydeployedsideairbagwillformacushionofair
betweentheoccupantandthevehiclesidetoreducethe
riskofbodysideinjuries.
Whenyousituprightintheseatandagainstthebackrest,
seatbeltsandairbagscanprovidethemosteffective
protection.Whenencounteringseriouscollision,airbags
willdeploydrastically.Atthismoment,ifyouorother
passengersdonotuseseatbeltsproperly,andlean
forward,reclineorsitinotherincorrectpostures,youor
otherpassengersarelikelytosufferfromseriousinjuryor
fatalinjury.
IMPORTANT
•Airbagscannotprotectlowerbodypartsof
passengers.
•Airbagsarenotdesignedforrearcollision,minor
frontalimpacts,orifthevehicleoverturns;norwill
itoperateasaresultofheavybraking.
•Deploymentandretractionofthefrontalandside
airbagstakesplaceveryquicklyandwillnotprotect
againsttheeffectsofsecondaryimpactsthatmay
occur.
•Whenanairbaginates,anepowderisreleased.
Thisisnotanindicationofamalfunction,however,
thepowdermaycauseirritationtotheskinand
shouldbethoroughlyushedfromtheeyesandany
cutsorabrasionsoftheskin.Ifskin(eyes,nose,
throat,etc.)doesnotfeelgood,pleasegotoa
doctorimmediately.
•Afterination,theairbagsdeateimmediately.
Thisensuresthatthedriver'sforwardvisionisnot
obscured.
