Java and Silverlight plug-in compatibility
Java and Silverlight plug-ins are not supported on Surface RT.
Streaming audio in the background (where available)
If you want to stream audio from a website while using other apps, do one of the following:
Use the desktop version of Internet Explorer.
Snap the touch-optimised version of Internet Explorer next to the app that you’re using. For more info
about this, see Use two apps side by side (snap apps).
Note Music that you play using the Xbox Music app plays in the background and when the Surface screen turns
off. For more info, see the Music section in this guide.*
* Some Music app services aren't available in all regions.
Mail
Use the Mail app to read and respond to email messages from all your
email accounts without switching views or apps.
Add an email account

section in this guide.
Remove an email account
To find out how to remove an email account, see Mail app for Windows: FAQs on Windows.com.
Change email settings
To change your email account settings:
1. Open the Mail app and then open the Settings charm (swipe in from the right edge of the screen and
then tap Settings).
2. Tap or click Accounts and then choose the account that you want to change.
3. Settings appear in a window along the right edge. Here you can change things such as your email
password, how much email is downloaded, and your email signature.
4. Tap or click the back arrow.
