6. Checking crankshaft for rotation
Make sure the crankshaft rotates smoothly.
7. Measuring crankshaft end play
1) Check the crankshaft end play with a dial
indicator, as shown in the illustration.
Unit: mm [in.]
2) If the end play is less than the assembly
standard, retighten the main bearing cap
bolts.
3) If it exceeds the service limit, replace the
flanged bearings.
8. Reassembling piston and connecting rod
1) Put the connecting rod in position in the piston
with the matching mark of the rod on the same
side as the weight identification on the top of
the piston.
2) Apply engine oil to the piston pin and install it
in position.
