u During the first 930 mi (1500 km) never
exceed 5000 rpm.
WARNING
After the first 930 mi (1500 km), have a
Moto Guzzi Authorized Dealer carry
out the "Post Running-In" checks
specified in the periodic maintenance
chart, see 72 (SCHEDULED
MAINTENANCE CHART). Failure to
perform these checks may lead to injury
to yourself or other people and/or
vehicle damage.
u After the first 930 mi (1500 km) and until
1250 mi (2000 km), ride more briskly,
varying speed and using maximum
acceleration for just a few seconds. This
is to ensure better coupling of the
components; never exceed 6000 rpm
(see table).
u After the first 1250 mi (2000 km) you
may run the engine harder, however,
without exceeding the maximum rpm
allowed (7600 rpm).
STOPPING
WARNING
If you can, do not stop or slow down
suddenly and avoid limit-braking.
u Release the throttle grip (1) (pos. A) and
gradually put on the brakes and shift
down the gears at the same time to slow
down, see page 65 (MOVING OFF AND
RIDING).
When you have slowed down, before
the vehicle comes to a stop:
u Pull the clutch lever (2) to prevent the
engine stalling.
When the vehicle has come to a stop:
u Select neutral (green warning light " "
on).
u Release the clutch lever (2).
u If you need to stop only briefly, keep at
least one brake applied.
PARKING
It is very important to select an adequate to
place to park your vehicle - observe local
regulations and the indications given
below.
WARNING
Park the vehicle on firm and level
ground to prevent it from falling.
Do not lean the vehicle against a wall, or
lay it on the ground.
Make sure that the vehicle and any of its
parts that are still hot do not pose a
burn risk for any persons nearby,
especially children. Do not leave the
vehicle unattended with the engine
running or the key in the ignition
switch.
WARNING
Leaning the vehicle too far over or
tipping it over may cause fuel to spill
out of the tank.
The fuel used in internal combustion
engines is highly flammable and can
become explosive under particular
conditions.
CAUTION
Do not rest your (and your passenger's)
weight on the side stand.
