Hex Drive Shaft
To remove/replace the Hex Drive Shaft:
1. Stop the engine and allow it to cool, disconnect the
spark plug wire and ground it to the engine.
2. Drain the fuel tank into an approved container.
3. Carefully tip the snow thrower forward so it rests on
the auger housing opening.
4. Remove the access panel using 3/8” wrench. See
Figure 5.5.
5. Hold the Hex Drive Shaft with a 3/4” wrench. See Fig-
ure 5.6.
NOTE: Some units may have a 7/8” hex shaft.
6. Remove the Patch Bolt and washer that secures the
right Hex Drive Shaft Bearing. See Figure 5.7.
7. Remove the bearing.

Patch bolt
