Power Button
The power button controls power to the system unit. Press
the button once to turn on the power and again to turn off
the power.
See “Start-Up/Shutdown” later in this chapter for informa-
tion about powering on and off.
Suspend Button
The suspend button lets you manually and instantly initiate
a power-saving mode of operation.
When you press this button, the system instantly goes
into a Suspend or “Sleep” mode. Suspend mode saves your
data and system status and shuts off all power-consuming
devices, such as your monitor and hard disk drive. An
amber system unit power lamp indicates that the system
is in Suspend mode.
Use Suspend mode when you need to be away from the
system for a short period of time and you want to return to
where you left off.
To wake the system from Suspend mode and resume
system operation, press a key or move your mouse.
System operation returns to where you stopped it.

power management features.
Lamps
The front panel contains two lamps, power and disk.
■ The power lamp (green) indicates that the system unit
is powered on. It also provides the status of system
operation.
