Chapter 1
Introduction
This chapter provides information on choosing the method for configuring your NETGEAR
Model RT328 ISDN Router. This chapter also provides a list of items contained in the product
package and a checklist so you can make sure you are ready to install your router.
Using FirstGear
The FirstGear configuration utility for the Model RT328 router runs in a PC Windows environment
(Windows 95 and Windows NT) only:
You have the following choices when configuring your router.
If the target network contains one or more PCs, the router can be configured from a PC using
FirstGear.
If the target network consists of only Macintosh or UNIX systems, the router can be
configured offline on a PC using FirstGear.
The router can be configured using the built-in Manager interface. Refer to the
Reference
Guide for the Model RT328 ISDN Router
for instructions on using the built-in Manager
interface.
