52 Chapter 7 Calibration
7.2.2 Local Operation Current Source Calibration
This procedure calibrates the feedback circuits for constant current mode.
The user enters the actual value of the current, as measured by an external
DMM. The 5600 then automatically calibrates the laser feedback circuits.
a. Connect the shunt to the laser outputs. Connect a calibrated
DMM across the shunt’s terminals to measure the voltage.
Calculate the current in the following steps by using Ohm's Law:
I = V / R
where V is the measured voltage across the resistor, and R is the
measured load resistance.
b. With the unit in Io mode, press the
LDD ON
key to turn the
laser output on. If a laser on delay has been set, wait that amount
of time to allow the laser output to engage.
c. Start the calibration procedure by first pressing the
MENU
button, then right arrow until the
Calibration
menu is reached,
then presses the down arrow until the
Io Calibration
function is
selected, then the right arrow key to execute the Io calibration
function.
d. The output will be set at ½ full scale and allowed to settle. Once
settled, enter the actual current measurement from the ammeter
display, then select the
Next
soft button and press the right
arrow.
e. The output will then be moved to ¼ the current set point and
allowed to settle. Once settled, enter the actual current
measurement from the ammeter display, then select the
Next
soft button and press the right arrow.
f. The calibration procedure is complete.
