9. 
Error Messages
 
9.1 Introduction 
Error messages may appear on the display when error conditions occur in the 
respective functions of the 5600. 
 
In remote operation, the current error list can be read by issuing the "ERR?" 
query. When this is done, a string will be returned containing all of the error 
messages which are currently in the error message queue. 
 
The errors codes are numerically divided into areas of operation as shown 
below.

    E-001 to E-099   Internal Program Errors 
  E-100 to E-199  Parser Errors 
    E-200 to E-299   Execution Control Errors 
  E-300 to E-399  GPIB/RS232 Errors 
    E-500 to E-599   Laser Control Errors 
  E-900 to E-999  System Errors 
 
Table 3 contains all of the error messages that may be generated by the 5600.

E-002  Floating point error 
 
E-104  Numeric type not defined. 
E-106 Digit expected. 
E-107  Digit not expected. 
E-115  Identifier not valid. 
E-116  Parser syntax error, character was not expected. 
E-126  Too few or too many program data elements. 
 
E-201  Value out of range. 
E-214  Length exceeds maximum. 
E-217  Attempted to recall a bin from a unsaved position. 
E-218  Additional link could not be added to the link 
table because the link table is already full.
