Here, the user may enter the desired montage name, the number of sources and detectors, and which
additional files (TopoLayout, Probe Setup and head models) they would like to add to this montage.
Please note that “Standard TopoLayout (.tpl)” file is always selected and cannot be changed, because at
least this file should be available in order to set up the hardware configuration properly.
For more information on how to create a Topo Layout (.tpl) file, please refer to section 5.4.
The Probe Setup (_probeInfo.mat) file creation is explained on the nirsLAB User Manual.
The number of sources and detectors will be combined into the final montage name to be displayed in
the drop-down menu. For example, if one wants to define a montage called Empathy making use of 8
sources and 8 detectors, the drop-down menu will list it as Empathy_8x8, in which the first number
represents the sources and the latter the detectors (Figure 11).
If a Standard Head Model (optimal resolution: 543x549) or a Hyperscan Head Model (optimal resolution:
540x1008) is not uploaded to the software, the layout of the cap will not be displayed. Instead, there will
be a message that says “No layout available to be displayed.”.
