Connecting Your DS-4000
Recorder to Your PC
To use the Olympus DS-4000 recorder,
1. Connect the USB plug on one end of the USB cable to a USB port on
the front or back of your PC workstation.
2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the cradle.
3. When you are ready to upload voice files from the DS-4000 recorder to
the EXVoice server, place the recorder in the cradle. Files on the
recorder are uploaded automatically through the Dictaphone EXV
Olympus Uploader application.
Setting Up the DS-4000 Recorder
Nuance recommends the settings shown here for the DS-4000 recorder. For
more detailed information on these settings, refer to the Olympus Digital
Voice Recorder DS-4000 Instructions manual that was included in the box
with your recorder.
To set up the DS-4000 digital recorder:
1. Insert the Ni-MH battery pack into the battery compartment of the DS-
4000 recorder.
2. Charge the battery pack by connecting the AC adapter to the cradle that
shipped with the recorder and placing the recorder in the cradle. A red
charge indicator light glows red while the battery pack is charging and
goes out when charging is complete.
