Configuring the Olympus Software
When you install the Olympus DSS Player Pro software, three separate pieces
of software are installed on your PC, each of which serves a different function.
• Olympus DSS Player Pro software
• Directrec Configuration Tool
• Device Detector 3
Each of these is covered here.
Olympus DSS Player Pro Software
The DSS Player Pro software must be installed on your PC workstation, but it
is not ever used or needed for dictating or uploading files to the EXVoice
server. You do not have to take any other action regarding this application.
Directrec Configuration Tool
The Directrec Configuration Tool is installed on your PC workstation and is
placed in the Startup menu so it starts automatically each time you start your
PC. This tool is not needed and must be disabled. To do so, you must remove
the Directrec Configuration Tool icon from the Notification Area and from
the Startup menu so it does not start up automatically.
To remove and disable the Directrec Configuration Tool:
1. If it exists, remove the Olympus Directrec Configuration Tool icon
from the Notification Area (formerly called the System Tray) at the
bottom of your Windows display. This tool is not needed.
a. Right-click the Directrec Configuration Tool icon in the
Notification Area.
b. Click Exit from the menu.
2. In Windows Explorer, navigate to: C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.
