2.2 FP-I4C block diagram
• The SNMP agent feature allows any SNMP management system to exchange data with
FP-I4C devices via the Ethernet using SNMP version 1 and 2c protocol.
FTP client:
• The FP-I4C unit can be configured as an FTP client for sending user-defined, current
PLC data or logged data to a remote FTP server.
Data logger:
• The FP-I4C unit can log PLC data and store it in the internal memory or send it via FTP.
Secure data transmission and authentication:
• The FP-I4C unit can communicate via OpenVPN to get an encrypted and secure data
transmission and authentication.
The FP-I4C comes in a FP0R series housing and has the following interfaces:
• RS232C interface which can be connected to a PLC
• RS232C/RS485 interface (switchable) which can be connected to a PLC
• 2 Ethernet 10/100BaseT interface for network connections
• 2x USB 2.0 host ports
• 2 digital inputs to set options

2.2 FP-I4C block diagram
This block diagram shows the relation between the interfaces, protocols and functions of the
FP-I4C. The heart of the FP-I4C is the possibility to use different protocols for each interface
and functions. The log feature and the FTP data transmission feature are able to store data
on the internal memory (and on a USB stick). To share the interfaces within the FP-I4C,
localhost is used (e.g. for the HMWIN Studio features, HTML pages with PLC data…).
