NOISE AND EMISSION CONTROL
Fuel System
Removing or rendering engine
speed governor inoperative,
allowing engine speed to exceed
manufacturer's specications.
Removing of air signal attenuator
on engines equipped with this
device.
Removing of diesel exhaust uid
tank and system.
Inner Fender
Shields and Cab Skirts
Removing shield or skirts.
Cutting away parts of shields,
skirts or damaged or loose
portions of shields or skirts.
Noise Insulating
Blankets
Removing noise insulators from
engine block or from around the
oil pan.
Cutting holes in, or cutting away
part of noise insulators.
Removing hood-mounted noise
insulation.
Inspection and Maintenance
Instructions
The following instructions are based on
inspection of the noise control system
at regular intervals as indicated in the
Noise Control
System Maintenance
Log on
page 5-123.
If, during
periodic inspection and
maintenance of other systems and
components, it is found that parts of the
noise control system require attention,
we recommend that those parts be
inspected at more frequent intervals
to assure adequate maintenance and
performance.
