The following
are common torque
Fluid Filter Replacement specications for most steering shafts.
Torque on U–joint pinch bolt and
nut (7/16 in) 74–81 Nm (55 to 60
lb-ft), lubricated.
Torque on Pitman arm clamp bolt
and nut (3/4 in): 406–433 Nm (300
to 320 lb-ft), lubricated.
For off–highway vehicles, tighten
the U–bolts after the rst day or
two of operation. Then check
weekly.

CAUTION
Servicing the power steering system
without bleeding it of trapped air may
cause damage to the power steering
pump.
1. Replace both
uid and lter.
