2.2 FireWire in general
You will nd several standards of FireWire solutions today, the Phase
One backs can handle most standards, but you should be aware that
the back is created for the 6-Pin technology. The different technologies
of FireWire are usable when shooting on the Phase One digital backs.
FireWire 400 4-Pin” will allow transport of image les or setting les
from computer to Back, but can not provide power for the back.
FireWire 400 “6-Pin” will provide power for the back at the same time
as images are transferred.
FireWire 800 “9-Pin” the latest generation of FireWire can be used if
you use the 9-Pin to 6-Pin cable or an adaptor on the back, this cable
will still provide power and transfer of les to and from the back. when
using this cable you need a 6 to 9-pin converter.
FireWire 800 will allow you to power your back using the cable and
transfer images just like the 6-Pin
4 to 6 pin converter is needed when using a 4-pin cable; the adaptor
allows you to plug-in the cable in the digital back. When using this
and the 4-pin cable you should force the back to get power from the
battery.
400 to 800 converter “6 to 9 pin converter” is needed if your computer
only accepts 9-pin cables, using this converter allows you to use the
9-Pin cable
