The check sum can be read via Modbus/TCP, RESTAPI or OPC UA. The check sum is
also displayed in the web application (see Set basic coding [ 41] and Set OEM
coding [ 41]).
5.6.1 Basic coding
With basic coding, PITreader can only identify transponder keys that have the same basic
identifier or, if appropriate, an OEM identifier (see OEM coding [ 25]).
For example, basic coding can be used to code a “company identifier”, which means that
only internally coded transponder keys are identified.
Basic coding can be deleted from the device manually, without knowing the basic identifier.
Basic coding is deleted automatically when the device is reset to its factory settings.
Basic coding is achieved by configuring the PITreader with a basic identifier (see Set basic
coding [ 41]). Transponder keys are taught in to a basic identifier when permissions
are written to the transponder key on a coded PITreader (see Teach in transponder key to
basic coding [ 38]).
5.6.2 OEM coding
With OEM coding, a second identifier can be stored in the PITreader to check the transpon-
der keys. PITreader devices with OEM coding accept transponder keys with the same OEM
identifier or with the right basic identifier (see Basic coding [ 25]).
For example, machine manufacturers can use OEM coding to create one transponder key
that service staff can use with all customers.

OEM coding can only be deleted from the PITreader manually if the OEM identifier is
entered. OEM coding is not deleted when resetting to the factory default settings. See also
Set OEM coding [ 41].
New transponder keys with the OEM identifier can only be created by a person who knows
the OEM identifier or who is using a PITreader that has been configured specifically for this
purpose. See Teach in transponder key to OEM coding [ 39].
