Insufficient
air cooling.
Check air
inlet and
out-
let for deformation or
obstruction.
Insufficient oil supply.
Low grade of oil.
Clogged
oil
lines or
strainers.
Excessive blow-by.
Failing or failed
bearing.
Defective temperature
gauge.
Fill
oil sump
to proper
level
with specified
oil.
Replace
with
oil con-
forming
to specifica-
tions.
Remove and clean oil
strainers.
Usually
caused
by worn
or stuck
rings.
Examine
sump
for
metal
particles.
If
found, overhaul of en-
gine
is indicated.
Replace
gauge.
Excessive
oil consump-
tion.
Low grade of oil. Fill
tank with
oil con-
forming to specifica-
tions.
