MAINTENANCE
Track Maintenance
Track Inspectio n
Using a hoist, safely lift and support the
rear of the snowmobile off the ground.
Rotate the track by hand to check for
possible damage.
Carefully examine the track along the
entire length of each rod, bending the
track and inspecting for breakage. The
three most common damage areas are
shown in the illustration.
Replace the track if any rod damage is
found.
Track Lubrication
The slide rail requires adequate snow cover for sufficient lubrication.
Excessive wear indicates insufficient lubrication. New Hi-fax can
cause faster heat build-up in limited lubrication, resulting in excessive
wear. NOTE: If excessive Hi-fax wear occurs due to poor snow
conditions, additional wheel kits are available. See your dealer for
more information.
IMPORTANT: Track damage or failure caused by operation on ice, or
under other poor lubrication conditions, will void the track warranty.
Broken track rods are a serious hazard; they can cause a rotating
track to come off the machine. Never operate or rotate a damaged
track under power. Serious personal injury or death may occur.

Track failure, loss of vehicle control, and loss of braking ability can
result from extended operation on surfaces providing marginal
lubrication between Hi-fax and track guide clips. Examples of
marginal lubrication include ice without snow cover, icy trails,
hard-packed snow, and no-snow conditions.
