Using the barcode scanner streamlines user workflow, and minimizes operator error from verification of
substances in a container labeled with a barcode. For example, if your organization receives a shipment
of ingredients for a product and you need to verify that the substances are labeled correctly before
using them, the barcode scanner can be used in lieu of manually entering the compound name or
selecting the compound from a list. By eliminating this step, the material verification procedure is
streamlined and the opportunity for user error is minimized.
The barcode scanner feature is available when the (Barcode) icon is displayed and the user is
prompted to either manually enter information in a text box (Figure 48) or select a material from a list
(Figure 49).
