Chapter 4 Security Options
Disable the CIP Security
Ports
There are two ways to disable CIP Security™ ports:
Use the Disable CIP Security checkbox in FactoryTalk Linx software,
version 6.30.00 or later. See Disable the CIP Security Ports with
FactoryTalk Linx Network Browser on page 46
Disable the CIP Security Ports with a MSG Instruction on page 47
Disable the CIP Security Ports with FactoryTalk Linx Network
Browser
You can disable the CIP Security ports with FactoryTalk Linx Network
Browser, version 6.30.00 or later.
1. On the Factory Talk Linx Network Browser, select 1756-EN4TR, and click
Configure Device.
2. Click CIP Security.
3. Select the Disable CIP Security (Port 2221) checkbox.
4. Click Apply.
5. Click Yes on the confirmation messages that appear.
Applies to these modules:
1756-EN4x
IMPORTANT These procedures disable the CIP Security ports. To re-enable the ports,
you must use the rotary switches to return the controller to a factory
default state. See Reset the Module to Factory Default Value on page 25
.
