Using Pilot software with an Ethernet Connection
Normally, to use the Pilot software, a serial connection is established between the IDU and the laptop. In
some cases, it is interesting to use an Ethernet connection instead of a serial connection.
To do that, it is necessary to configure properly the IDU network management interface to ensure IP
connectivity between the laptop and the IDU.
Use the following procedure :
• Connect your laptop to the IDU with its serial access, and go to the menu NMI/card configuration
/ local Configuration and select the Port tab.
• Enter an IP address and a subnet mask for the Ethernet Link
• Open then the Managers tab and enter the IP address of your laptop (must be in the same subnet).
• Save the configuration (click on the button "restart NMI Card").
• Connect the laptop to the IDU using an Ethernet connection. Verify IP connectivity with a ping on
the IDU Ethernet Link IP address
• Before running Pilot with the Ethernet connection, you have to change the command line of the
Link Pilot shortcut which should be on the desktop
• Click with the right button of the mouse on the link Pilot icon, and select "properties".
• Modify the command line corresponding to the target : Initially the target command line looks like :
"xxxx\sagemlnkf.exe". Add to this line a space then the IP address of the IDU Ethernet port, a
space and a 0 (zero). Now this command line should look like "xxxx\sagemlnkf.exe" [IP address] 0.
Example : "xxxx\sagemlnkf.exe" 192.168.0.10 0
• You can now use the Ethernet port for Pilot software connection.
Notes :
1. If you have a SAGEM LINK F Network, with a proper configuration on all Network Management
Interfaces (you have previously defined Ethernet IP address and route table addresses), you can run
the Pilot of any IDU within the network, by entering the IP address on the Pilot command line.
2. You can be logged directly if you enter the password instead a zero :
Example : : "xxxx\sagemlnkf.exe" 192.168.0.10 2345
.
