Reducing the risk of Oedema / Hemoptysis

Hemoptysis is technically “the emission of blood from the respiratory tracts”, and when freediving this typically indicates the presence of
a pulmonary oedema. During a freedive, hemoptysis is typically caused by a rupture of capillaries in the lungs that have been subjected
totoomuchstresswithouthavingrstperformedtheappropriatewarmups.
Toreducetheriskofpulmonaryoedema,JACKrecommendswhichdivestotakerstinorderto“warmup”thecapillariesinthelungs
depending on the depth you want to reach, or the “comfort” depth (depth you can reach without special effort).
To activate the oedema/hemoptysis risk reduction function, set the desired depth in the OEDEMA item in the FREE SET menu. In the
following example, the OEDEMA value is set to 35.
