8.9.4 Network Port (LAN)
The LAN port of the SDM is used to communicate with external computer based data
collection systems. The LAN port is located on the rear panel of the SDM. The LAN port
is a standard 10Base-T Ethernet connector. Use Category 3 (Cat3) or preferably
Category 5 (Cat5) Ethernet cables for connection of the monitor to a network hub or
switch. You may also use a cross-over Ethernet cable for direct connection of the
monitor to a computer without a hub or switch.
Note: While trend data are downloaded via the LAN interface the serial interface of
the SDM is inactivated. Once data download via the LAN interface is completed
the serial interface is reactivated.
