Connectivity
Privacy and Security
To insure proper protection of Protected Health Information and networking security when using
the App, note the following recommendations and instructions.
■ For important information about 802.11 (WiFi), refer to the Freestyle User Manual and
System Reference Manual.
■ For important information about Protected Health Information (patient privacy), refer to the
Freestyle User Manual and System Reference Manual.
■ Follow your regional and institutional guidelines regarding networking security and
Protected Health Information (patient privacy).
■ If you do not want mobile devices to link to the Freestyle using the Mobile Link App,
uncheck (disable) the box on the SETUP / SYSTEM / ADMIN page.
■ If a mobile device is connected through the Mobile Link App, the mobile symbol (
) will
be displayed on the console screen.
■ Protect the security of the PIN code used to allow devices to link. Change the PIN code if
necessary to improve security.
■ To prevent the patient name and ID from being displayed on saved images, use the Study
Anonymity feature. Select SETUP / SYSTEM and check the two checkboxes to exclude
Patient Name and Patient ID. Note that the Patient Name will still show up in the patient
list.
■ To create a fully anonymous study le, follow these steps: create a new patient study but
do not enter a patient name of ID. When you select Save, to save the images, the system
will automatically assign the name “UNKNOWN” and a date- and time-based ID.
