3.2 Compatibility and limitations
Compatibility with the IM 155-5 MF HF interface module
If you exchange or replace an interface module, the following table shows the
compatibilities:
• Between the interface modules IM 155-5 MF HF and IM 155-5 PN HF
• Between the various firmware versions

Compatibility restrictions (non-supported functions)
The new firmware as of V5.0 is compatible with devices of order number 6ES7155-5MU00-
0CN0 only.
• Isochronous mode is not supported
• No prioritized startup
• No support of identification data I&M 4
Compatibility restrictions (in case of spare part)
The new firmware as of V5.0 is compatible with devices of order number 6ES7155-5MU00-
0CN0 only.
You can replace a IM 155-5 PN HF with firmware ≤ V4.4 with a IM 155-5 MF HF V5.0 without
updating the configuration. In this case, the following restrictions apply:
• You can use only the connected BusAdapter BA2xRJ45. Other BusAdapters are not
compatible
• No isochronous real-time communication (IRT)
• Isochronous mode is not supported
• Prioritized startup lasts significantly longer due to Secure Boot
• No support of identification data I&M 4
• Possible restriction in case of topological configuration. In the case of unsuitably
configured cable lengths, you receive the "Cable length mismatch" diagnostics.
There may be limitations of the industrial cybersecurity functions.
