5.4.2 IO redundancy
De󹪝nition
You can con󹪝gure two identical modules redundantly. To do so, plug both modules into a
redundant terminal block side by side. You can 󹪝nd additional information on mounting
modules in an IO redundancy con󹪝guration in the ET 200SP HA System Manual, section
"Installing", "Installing terminal block".
In IO redundancy mode, the left module is the master and the right module is the slave. The
HART communication takes place exclusively via one of the two redundant channels.
Description
The acquired process value is made available on both the modules in error-free, redundant
operation.
When IO redundancy operates without error, HART communication takes place exclusively via
one of the two redundant channels. The HART interface of all channels is associated with the
master by default. If a module fails or a channel failure is detected, the HART interface of the
a󹪜ected channels changes to the partner module. Once an error has been corrected, there is no
changeover of the HART interface of the current-carrying channels involved.
