Display Elements of the CP 440
The display elements of the CP 440 provide information on the CP 440. The following display
functions can be distinguished:
• Group error displays
– INTF internal error
– EXTF external error
• Special displays
– TXD (green) sending active; lights up when the CP 440 is sending user data via the
interface
– RXD (green) receiving active; lights up when the CP 440 is receiving user data via the
interface
• Interface fault LED
– FAULT interface error
Error Messages of the Display Elements
The table below describes the error messages of the display elements.

INTF comes on CP 440 signals internal fault, e.g. protocol fault Read the STATUS of the FB, or read the diagnostic
buer of the CP 440.
EXTF comes on CP 440 signals external fault, e.g. break on the
line.
Read the STATUS of the FB, or read the diagnostic
buer of the CP 440.
FAULT o Interface ready for operation -
FAULT ashing slowly Interface initialized and ready for operation but
communication via S7-400 backplane bus not
possible.
Check the conguration for incorrect entries (e.g.
slot, ID no., etc.).
FAULT ashing fast Incorrect parameter Check the parameter settings in the CP440:
Point–to–Point Connection Parameter Assign‐
ment interface.
FAULT comes on No interface parameters Assign parameters with the CP440: Point–to–
Point Connection Parameter Assignment inter‐
face.
INTF and FAULT light
up at the same time
CPU reset (module not congured/has not been
assigned parameters)
Congure and assign parameters to the CP 440
and load the HW conguration to the CPU.
