The module parameters are automatically transferred to the CP 440 in the following cases:
When they are downloaded to the CPU and the CP 440 can be reached via the S7-400
backplane bus
After power up during startup of the CPU, as soon as the CP 440 can be reached via the
S7-400 backplane bus
Default settings apply if parameters are not changed.

5.6.1 Subsequent Loading of Firmware Updates
Introduction
The communication processor is shipped with basic 󹪝rmware preinstalled. You can enhance
functionality and eliminate errors by downloading 󹪝rmware updates to system memory of
communication processor.
Subsequent loading of 󹪝rmware updates with the CP 440: Point-to-Point Communication,
Parameter Assignment interface.

The CP 440 is supplied with a basic 󹪝rmware.
Requirements
The prerequisites for loading 󹪝rmware updates are:
You must create a valid project under the hardware con󹪝guration and upload it to the CPU
before you can update the 󹪝rmware of the communications processor with the programming
interface.
The instructions accompanying the 󹪝rmware update always detail the destination directories
for the 󹪝les.
The "..\CP440.nnn" path always identi󹪝es the 󹪝rmware version.
