7.2.9.3 Voltage limitation (only applicable for synchronous versions)
This information only concerns synchronous versions.
Note
EMF (Electro Motive Force) > 820 V
In a fault situation, a voltag
e limitation of the DC-link voltage on the converter is required.
The voltage limit depends on the maximum EMF (induced phase
-to-phase voltage peak
>
820 V).
Voltage limiting is required if you operate the motor with a speed n
> n
max inv
.
The VPM (Voltage Protection Module) is used as voltage limiter for SINAMICS S120.
Note
Observe a maximum cable length of 1.5
m between converter and VPM.
Further information can be found in the associatedConfiguration Manual

).
7.2.10 Connecting the asynchronous version
The motor changeover switches the winding in the motor in a star or delta connection.
The star-delta connection is implemented in the 1FE2 by means of:
A fixed setting in the terminal box
An external contactor circuit
The star-delta connection via a fixed setting in the terminal box
The standard setting is the star connection via jumpers.
