3.3.2 Design of the Active Line Module and Motor Module
The Active Line Module / Motor Module comprises the following components:
Three identical phase modules (power units)
DC-link capacitor bank
Converter Control Unit (CCU)
Actual value acquisition
Power loss is dissipated from the phase modules through the water re-cooling unit. Motor
Module units can be connected to the basic device via the DC bus.
Each phase module comprises three parallel clamped stacks.
3.3.3 Design of the Motor Module
On each phase module, four IGCT power semiconductors are located between water-cooled
heat sinks to ensure adequate cooling on both sides of the components. In addition, four
freewheeling diodes, two neutral-point diodes and two clamp circuits are installed in each
phase module. The clamp circuits comprise the following components:
Switch-on relief choke
Snubber capacitor
Snubber diode
Snubber resistor
The switch-on relief chokes are located on the side of the phase module. The snubber
capacitors and resistors are located in the lower area of the phase module.
