Activation and acknowledgment of the "Safe Torque Off" safety function must be arranged
such that the equipment can be seen from the activation site, that is, no danger while
deactivating the "Safe Torque Off" safety function.
If the mushroom pushbutton is not installed in the drive cabinet, both control circuits of the
"Safe Torque Off" function are wired to the customer terminal strip. In complex systems the
interface via the terminal strip is used to integrate the "Safe Torque Off" function in the higher-
level fail-safe controller. According to the specification of the safety relays, the permissible
cable length at the safe inputs is 2000 m (1000 m inward + 1000 m outward).
The "Safe Torque Off" mushroom pushbutton is a positively-opening mushroom pushbutton.
The mushroom pushbutton has the following features:
● Two NC contacts (dual-channel activation)
● Positive latching
● Rotate to release using the following elements:
– Actuating element
EMERGENCY STOP / EMERGENCY OFF control device according to ISO 13850/
EN 418 and IEC 60947-5-5, e.g. Siemens 3SB3000-1HA20.
– 2NC switching element
Positive opening according to IEC 60947-5-1, Annex K, e.g. Siemens 3SB3403-OE
The mushroom pushbutton is connected via a 4-wire shielded control cable with a wire cross
section ≥ 0.5 mm

wiring system according to EN60204-1.
If the "Safe Torque Off" mushroom pushbutton is connected through a fail-safe PLC, this must
