Software Update Procedure
Using USB port:
Tools, cables and software needed:
12-pin power cable •
DC power supply 12-24 VDC •
One (1) USB device (i.e. USB flash drive) •
(Refer to page 194 for hardware compatibility list)
PC or laptop with Windows xx and a USB port •
*.bin file – the program itself •
Procedure:
Insert your USB device into a PC or laptop.1
Format the USB device using FAT32 le system. 2
Refer to page 192 for instructions of how to for-
mat.
Download the MX500.bin le (the program itself) 3
from the BNT- ME website and save it onto your
USB device. (Note: Do not rename the le. The
lename should remain as “MX500” in uppercase.)
Safely remove your USB device from the PC or 4
laptop.
Power off the MX500 CDU.5
Insert your USB device into the USB port of the 6
MX500.
Press and hold down the NAV button on the MX500 7
unit and power ON the unit. Release the ‘NAV’ key
after the unit is powered on.
MX500 CDU will now bring up the MX500 Software 8
Bootloader.
Please allow a few moments for the MX500 9
Software Bootloader to detect and mount your
USB device.
After the USB device is successfully mounted, the 10
software bootloader will copy the program to RAM.
