8 Assembling the Trimmer / Brushcutter
8.2.2 Removing a Deflector
To remove a deflector:
► Shut off the engine, @ 12.1.
► Remove the screws (2).
► Remove the deflector (1).
8.3 Mounting and Removing a Mowing Head
8.3.1 Mounting a Mowing Head
WARNING
Use of wire or metal-reinforced line is not authorized and
could be extremely dangerous. Use only the cutting
attachments recommended in this manual, in combination
with the recommended deflector, @ 5.7.5.
WARNING
A damaged or loose cutting attachment or mowing head may
vibrate, crack, break or come off the trimmer / brushcutter,
which may result in serious or fatal injury or property
damage. Make sure the mowing head and cutting
attachment are properly tightened and in good condition
before starting work, @ 5.7.5.
To mount a mowing head:
► Shut off the engine, @ 12.1.
► Position the unit so that you are facing the underside of
the deflector and the drive shaft is pointed upwards.
► Slip the thrust plate (2) onto the drive shaft (3), keeping
the side of the thrust plate with the smaller diameter facing
upwards toward the mowing head (1).
► Insert the stop pin (4) in the hole in the gearbox and rotate
the drive shaft until the stop pin slips into position and
blocks the rotation of the drive shaft.
► By hand, screw the mowing head counterclockwise onto
the drive shaft while keeping the stop pin inserted. The
drive shaft must be blocked with the stop pin to mount or
remove a cutting attachment.
► Continue screwing down the mowing head until it is
properly and securely attached.
► Remove the stop pin from the hole in the gearbox.
NOTICE
Using the trimmer with overly long trimmer line increases the
load on the motor and reduces its operating speed. This may
result in overheating and damage to important components.
NOTICE
After mounting or removing the cutting attachment, always
remove the stop pin used to block the drive shaft.
