English 12 Shutting Off the Engine
To start the engine:
► Press the manual fuel pump bulb (1) at least five times –
even if the bulb is filled with fuel.
► If the engine is warm: Leave the choke lever (2) in
position .
► If the engine is at ambient temperature: Press in the rim
(arrows) and turn the choke lever (2) to position .
► Hold down the unit by wrapping the fingers of your left
hand firmly around the drive tube.
► Pull the starter grip slowly with your right hand until you
feel it engage.
► Pull the starter grip quickly and allow the starter rope to
rewind several times until the engine runs.
► Do not pull out the starter rope to full length and do not let
the starter grip snap back. Guide it slowly back into the
housing so that the starter rope can rewind properly.
► If the choke lever (2) was set to position , press down
the throttle triggger lockout (3) and blip the throttle
trigger (4).
The choke lever (2) will move to the run position and the
engine will settle down to idle speed.
► If the engine is cold, warm up the engine by opening and
closing the throttle.
► If the engine does not start in the position, move the
choke lever to the position and try starting the engine
again.
► If the engine is flooded, try starting the engine in the
position.
► If the cutting attachment rotates when the engine is idling,
adjust the throttle cable, @ 21.4 or have the trimmer /
brushcutter inspected by an authorized STIHL servicing
dealer before further use.
NOTICE
If the trimmer / brushcutter is pressed to the ground with the
foot or knee, the trimmer / brushcutter may be damaged.
► Press the brush cutter to the ground with your left hand.
Do not stand or kneel on the drive tube.
12.1 Shutting Off the Engine
WARNING
The cutting attachment will continue to move for a short
while after the throttle trigger is released. To avoid serious
or fatal injury, avoid contact with the moving cutting
attachment. To reduce the risk of personal injury from
unintended activation or unauthorized use, shut off the
engine and ensure the cutting attachment has stopped
before transporting the unit or putting it down.
