Checking the Spark Plug
N Clean dirty spark plug.
N Check electrode gap (A) and
readjust if necessary – see
"Specifications".
N Rectify the problems which have
caused fouling of the spark plug.
Possible causes are:
Too much oil in fuel mix.
Dirty air filter.
Unfavorable running conditions.
WARNING
Arcing may occur if the adapter nut (1) is
loose or missing. Working in an easily
combustible or explosive atmosphere
may cause a fire or an explosion. This
can result result in serious injuries or
damage to property.
N Use resistor type spark plugs with a
properly tightened adapter nut.
Installing the Spark Plug
N Fit the spark plug and tighten it
down firmly.
N Press the boot firmly onto the spark
plug.
N Fit the cap (1), insert the screw (2)
and tighten it down firmly.
Check grease level after every 25 hours
of operation and re-lubricate if
necessary.
N Remove the screw plug (1).
N If no grease can be seen on the
inside of the screw plug (1): Screw
the tube (2) of STIHL gear lubricant
(special accessory) into the filler
hole.
N Squeeze no more than 5 g (1/5 oz)
grease into the gearbox.
NOTICE
Do not completely fill the gearbox with
grease.
N Unscrew the tube (2).
N Insert the screw plug (1) and tighten
it down firmly.
