Run screen status ‘Stabilising’
After the two minute stabilising period, the heating block will begin to ramp up in temperature at the
programmed ramp rate. The current status will indicate ‘Ramping’.
Run screen status ‘Ramping’
During the ramping stage, the samples will begin to melt. The SMP50 will detect the start of the
melting process by a change in the image intensity of the capillary tube. The sample status for each
capillary will be indicated on the display.
The status of each sample will be indicated as one of four possible states:
❖ Solid: No changes have been detected in the sample’s physical form.
❖ Melting: The sample is showing the first signs of a change in its physical form.
❖ Liquid: The change in the sample’s physical form is complete.
❖ Finished: Once a capillary tube displays “finished” the melt determination is complete.
Note: The sample status indicated is for information only. An accurate analysis of the data is
performed after the melting point determination has been completed.
