TPS2000 Series Digital Storage Oscilloscopes S ervice Manual
Table 1- 1: Oscilloscope general characteristics (Cont.)
Pulse Width Trigger
Pulse Width Trigger modes Trigger when < (Less than), > (Greater than), = (Equal), or (Not Equal );
Positive pulse or Negative pul se.
Pulse Width Trigger Point Equal: The oscilloscope triggers when the trailing edge of the pulse crosses the trigger level.
Not Equal: If the pulse is narrower than the specified width, the trigger point is the trailing
edge. Otherwise, t he oscilloscope triggers when a pulse continues longer than the time
specified as the Pulse Width.
Less than: The trigger point is the trailing edge.
Greater than (also called time-out trigger): The oscilloscope triggers when a pulse continues
longer than the time specified as the Pulse Wi dth.
Pulse Width Range Selectablefrom33nsto10s
Pulse Width Resolution 16.5 ns or 1 part per thousand, whichever is larger
Equal Guard Band t > 330 ns: ±5% guard band < ±(5.1% + 16.5 ns)
t 330 ns: guard band = ±16.5 ns
Not Equal Guard Band t > 330 ns: ±5% guard band < ±(5.1% + 16.5 ns)
165 ns < t 330 ns: guard band = --16.5 ns/+33 ns
t 165 ns: guard band = ±16.5 ns
Trigger Frequency Counter
Readout Resolution 6 digits
Accuracy, typical ±51 ppm including all frequency reference errors and ±1 count errors
Frequency Range AC coupled, 10 Hz minimum to rated bandwidth.
Signal Source Pulse Width/ Edge Trigger: al l available trigger sources.
Frequency Counter measures trigger source at al l times, including when the oscilloscope
acquisition is halted due to changes in the run status, or acquisition of a single shot event
has completed.
Pulse Width Trigger: The oscilloscope counts pulses of significant magnitude inside t he 250
ms measurement wi ndow that qualify as triggerable events, such as narrow pulses in a PWM
pulse train if set to < mode and the width is set to a relat ively small time.
Edge Tri gger: The oscilloscope counts all edges of sufficient magnitude and correct polarity.
Video Trigger: The Frequency Counter does not operate.
