9.1.2 Mowing height
With the top rod, it is possible to set the mowing
height within a range from 20 to 70 mm. By
extending the rod, the mowing height is reduced.
Do not forget to tighten the locknut after that.
The recommended mowing height varies depending
on the terrain, characteristics of the surface, the type
of flail and the length of the grass. However, it is
important to set the height so that the flails never
run into the ground, which can damage the machine
and reduce the service life of the flails.
A height scale is attached to the machine. When
driving at a low mowing height (orange field), you
must count on a slow driving speed.
Warning: Never adjust the mowing height while the
engine is running
9.1.3 Flails
The flail mower may be equipped with 2 different types of flails: hammering flails or Y-flails.
The hammering flail is used on finer surfaces where nice results are expected while the Y-flail is
most suitable for high grass on gross surfaces.
Y-Flails have past the thrown object test accordance with EN 13524-A2
If the rubber in front of the mower gets damaged, replace it immediately because otherwise there
is an increased risk that objects will be thrown out in front of the mower.
As a standard, the machine is supplied with Y-flails.
Before starting, always check whether the flails in the mower are not damaged. If they are,
replace them. Damaged flails can cause imbalance of the mower and provide unsatisfactory
mowing results.
9.1.4 Changing the Flails
Before starting the work, lift the mower to the
service position. Do not forget to activate the
horn when raising the lift.
Activate the cylinder stop on the feeding valve
and it will subsequently open up completely.
Stop the machine and activate the main switch.
Remove the key.
The picture shows a new and a worn Y-flail.
Always replace the bolts and lock nuts together
with the flails.
