ClosingtheTailgate
Ifyouunloadedloosematerialsuchassand,
landscapingrock,orwoodchipsfromthecargobedof
themachine,someofthematerialthatyouunloaded
mayhavelodgedinthehingeareaofthetailgate.
Performthefollowingstepsbeforeclosingthetailgate.
1.Useyourhandstoremoveasmuchofthe
materialfromthehingeareaaspossible.
2.Rotatethetailgatetoapproximatelythe45°
position(Figure70).

removedfromthehingearea.
6.Rotatethetailgateupandliftthetailgateintothe
notchesinthecargobed.
StartingtheEngine
Important:Donotattempttopushortowthe
machinetogetitstarted.Damagetothedrive
traincouldresult.
1.Sitontheoperatorseatandensurethatthe
machineisintheP(PARK)position.
2.Keepyourfootofftheacceleratorpedal.
3.RotatethekeyswitchtotheONposition.
4.RotatethekeyswitchtotheSTARTposition.
Ifyourfootisnotonthebrakepedal,youcannot
starttheengine.
Note:Releasethekeyimmediatelywhenthe
enginestartsandallowittoreturntotheRUN
position.
Note:Donotrunthestartermotormorethan10
secondsatatimeorprematurestarterfailuremay
result.Ifenginefailstostartafter10seconds,turn
thekeytotheOFFposition.Checkthecontrolsand
startingprocedure,wait10additionalseconds,and
repeatthestartingoperation.
DrivingtheMachine
1.Pressthebrakepedal.
2.Movethegearselectortothedesiredgear.
3.Releasethebrakepedalandgraduallypress
theacceleratorpedal.
Important:Alwaysstopthemachinebefore
shiftinggears.
Usethechartbelowtodeterminetheground
speedofeachgearwhenoperatingthemachine.
