Connections on the main module
There are several FFCs (Flexible Flat Circuit) cables and wire looms that connect to the main module.
Ensure that you follow these guidelines to avoid damaging the FFCs and wire looms, and to ensure
the connections are secure.
1 USB connector wire loom
2 Battery wire loom
3 Keypad FFC
4 Display module FFC
5 Antenna wires
Protecting the case
When servicing a stick reader, place the stick reader on a soft rubber mat to prevent it from being scratched.
Changes to the product
In December 2017, we began manufacturing EID Stick Readers with a larger main battery. The case was
necessarily re-designed to house the new battery. The new case is now supplied as a single spare part, whereas
previously, the case was supplied as two parts (a case front assembly and a case rear).
Before you service an EID stick reader, you should familiarise yourself with the information contained in Technical
Bulletin 18-007 “XRS2 and SRS2 Stick Reader - Change to spare parts: main battery and case”, available for
dowloading from the Tru-Test service website service.tru-test.com This bulletin outlines:
Why the changes have been made
What you should do when servicing a stick reader requiring a new battery or new case.
How to identify old and new spare parts.
What you should do with any old style spare parts you have in stock.
