TRAVELING (cont’d)
When descending a grade, stopping distance will be greater
than on-level operation. Methods shall be provided to allow
for this condition. Some methods are: reduce speed, limit
loads, allow adequate clear space at the bottom of grade,
etc.

WARNING

Ascend or descend grades slowly, and with caution.
When ascending or descending grades, loaded rider trucks shall
be driven with the load upgrade.
Unloaded trucks should be operated on all grades with the load-
engaging means downgrade.
On all grades the load and load-engaging means shall be fully
raised.
Avoid turning, if possible, and use extreme caution on grades,
ramps, or inclines; normally travel straight up and down.
