• When descending a grade, stopping distance will be greater
than on-level operation. Methods shall be provided to allow
for this condition. Some methods are: reduce speed, limit
loads, allow adequate clear space at the bottom of grade,
etc.

• Ascend or descend grades slowly, and with caution.
• When ascending or descending grades, loaded rider trucks shall
be driven with the load upgrade.
• Unloaded trucks should be operated on all grades with the load-
engaging means downgrade.
• On all grades the load and load-engaging means shall be fully
raised.
• Avoid turning, if possible, and use extreme caution on grades,
ramps, or inclines; normally travel straight up and down.
