OPERATING CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
STEERHEAD AND TILLER ASSEMBLY (cont’d)
STEER TILLER (cont'd)
Braking and Brake Positions
Pulling the steerhead down to mid-range disengages the brake system.
There are two ways to apply the brakes, either by pushing the steer
tiller to its fully lowered position or by releasing the steer tiller which will
return it to the vertical position, applying the brakes.
• All walkie and walkie rider units have an electronic brake system.
If for any reason the tiller handle or steerhead controls are not
operated for approximately three (3) seconds the brake will apply.
• To release brake simply operate the directional control or raise or
lower the tiller handle.
Braking by Plugging (Controlled Reversing)
Plugging is a normal operation to slow down and/or stop a powered
industrial truck. Braking by plugging is a method in which the rotary
thumb control is switched to the opposite direction in which the forklift
is traveling (refer to page 28).
Manual Coast Control Option - 2W2 Only
This optional feature allows the truck to coast for more efcient order
picking. To engage (activate) this option, the operator must place the
handle in coast control position and manually engage the latch, as
shown below.
