7.1.2.5 Group 3.1.4.12: I/f start
The I/f Start function is typically used with permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) to start
the motor with constant current control. This is useful with high power motors in which the resis-
tance is low and the tuning of the U/f curve difficult.
The
I/f Start function can be used with induction motors (IM), too, e.g. if the tuning of the U/f curve
is difficult at low frequencies.
Applying the I/f Start function may also prove useful in providing sufficient torque for the motor at
startup.
