Pressure setting
1. Wait approx. 1 minute, then read the CPAP pressure displayed or the IPAP and
EPAP pressures displayed in the bar chart and check whether the values dis-
played correspond to the prescribed values.
Respiratory frequency/Minimum frequency
Note
This check is not necessary if the device is operating in CPAP mode.
1. Observe the following sequence of events: the device switches periodically be-
tween the two pressure levels IPAP and EPAP.
2. Count the number of IPAP phases in a minute and compare this figure with the
display. You can identify the IPAP phase by the louder operating noise or by the
bar graph in the standard display.
Set values:
– S mode: 6 phases/minute
– TA, T and ST mode: prescribed value
Permitted deviation:
– not more than ± 1 phase/minute.
Triggering
Note
This check is not necessary when the the unit is operated in CPAP or T mode.
1. Switch off the unit by keeping the on / off switch depressed for 2 seconds.
2. Fit the mask.
3. Switch on the unit by pressing the on / off switch .
4. Put on the mask and breathe normally. In ST mode, your respiratory frequency
must be above the prescribed frequency at this point so that the unit's time-con-
trolled trigger is not activated.
The unit must react to the respiratory phase switch by switching pressure level.
Note
If the trigger for expiration does not function, it may have been switched off. Ask
your doctor whether this is the case.
